Description

Rectangular panel made of Solnhofen limestone with finely etched cartouches and text fields. In the upper register, a painted city coat of arms is flanked by profile medallions of Christ and the Virgin Mary cast in lead. Below which, in the two-part text field, finely etched eulogies to Christ (on the left) and the Virgin Mary (on the right), followed by goodwill wishes for the New Year. A reference to the founder "Andreas Vesckü Schüelhalter machts Anno 1633" above the lower relief plaque showing the birth of Christ. Knocked at the edges, minor defects in places and slightly rubbed. Dimensions 33 x 20 cm.
