Description

This gown, elaborately embroidered with gold threads, was made for a noblewoman to wear at a birthday celebration. Lining of gold silk damask (heavily damaged). Twelve five-clawed dragons surrounded by clouds with bats over waves with treasures and Chinese characters on the chest, back, and shoulders amidst the characters for good luck and longevity. Length 85 cm. Rare piece.
