Description
High skull made of coarse, black leather (the paint defects re-blackened), stitched at the crown, curved rear visor, angular front visor (the seam open). The star-shaped tombac emblem at the front with appliquéd nickel-silver coat of arms and "Grenadier-Garde" banner. Convex chinscales backed with leather on rosettes with the garnet symbol, the state cockade in lacquered sheet metal on the right (7 cm). Cruciform base plate with four round-head screws, smooth funnel with bead ring, the hoop crown with threaded rod merely inserted. The leather liner has been lost. Incomplete, some mounting components have been replaced. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Extremely rare, early helmet.Provenance: Part of the Ensch-Famenne collection.
