A German cavalryman's sword, circa 1610/20

Description

Oversized sword, the robust, double-edged blade with flattened central ridge. The forte with a narrow fuller on both sides, the short ricasso with a double mark on both sides. Simple iron swept hilt with long S-curved quillons. Original grip with fine iron wire wrap and Turk's heads. Heavy octagonal pommel with tang button. Length 123.5 cm.
