Double-edged, tapered thrusting blade of flattened diamond section. Escutcheon inlaid in brass on one side, underneath it stylised Passau wolf mark. On the opposite side letters "I" and "R" connected by a serpentine line. Straight, extended quillons with widened finials. Sturdy, slightly conical tang, fishtail pommel with three roped ridges. Length 116 cm. Early French sword type evidenced by several similar objects that are part of the well-known group of swords from the Battle of Castillon.Condition: II - III Questions about the lot?
