A long German mail shirt, 15th century

Description

Long shirt from riveted rings of different sizes. Large, straight cut with short sleeves, the lower part at the front and back with cutout for horse-riding. V-shaped neck opening with short collar of fine, dense jazerine mesh, the upper edge decorated with two rows of brass rings. Numerous flaws and losses. Modified and repaired several times during its long time of use. The repairs with oriental mesh segments suggests that the mail shirt was reused in eastern Europe. Surfaces rust-coated. Can be improved by cleaning and expert restoration. Length approx. 107 cm.
