A feluca with feather plume,
tunic and small-sword of the commander of
the Venetian guard of honour 1805-14
Feluca (bicorn hat) of black silk mohair (with
age related rubbing) trimmed with silver
bullion braid, folded cockade in the colours
green, white, and red of the Italian kingdom
under Napoleonic rule. Surmounted by silver
bullion braids on silver button, on it eagle
with chest shield “N”. At side silver fringes,
leather sweat band and two linen cords. The
lacing loosened due to age. With a white-
green feather plume (a few feathers loose) in
original cardboard box with maker’s label of
“Domenico Lieti - fa pennacchi, e lavora in
piume d’ogni quailita”.
The dress tunic featuring long tails of green
cloth with red pipings and nine silver buttons,
again crowned eagle and chest shield “N”.
Red standing collar and lapels (each with a
silver button) with adorned silver wire and
sequin embroidery. Linen lining, chest thick
lined. Looped and buttoned epaulettes with
silver field, bullion braid crescent and loose
fringes with silver wire backing. Tails with red
underlining which is turned outward in the
lower section and where it flanks two explod-
ing grenades in silver wire and sequin embroi-
dery. Signs of age and wear, the red cloth
slightly faded, small moth holes, otherwise in
excellent condition.
