to a varying degree, each with a close-set row of
rivet heads at the top edge. Includes two broad,
matching buckles from faulds or tassets, as well
as two unassociated, later armour fragments,
each with four lames. Dimensions of the breast-
plate 21 x 31 cm, dimensions of the smaller pla-
tes approx. 7 – 9 cm wide and 3.5 to 4 cm high.

Aus unterschiedlich dicken, vernieteten Rin-
gen gefertigtes, über hüftlanges Kettenhemd
mit kurzen Ärmeln. Am Rücken, Schoß und
Hals kurzer Schlitz. Gereinigter Zustand mit
minimalen Fehlstellen. Am unteren Hals-
schlitz spätere, vernietete Marke. Länge ca.
80 cm. Aufgezogen auf figürlich zugeschnitte-
nem, rot lackiertem Brett.

Gotische Brustplatte, deutsch,
um 1460/70
Kräftig gewölbte Brust, am oberen Rand kräf-
tiger, nach außen geschlagener Brechrand.
Die Armeinsätze fehlen, an der linken Schul-
ter eine erhaltene, eiserne Schnalle. Am rech-
ten, oberen Rand geschlagene Plattnermarke
(zwei gekreuzte Schwerter). Aufgesetzte Ver-
stärkungsplatte mit siebenfacher Flutung und
geschweiften Rändern, die obere Spitze in ei-
nen Dreipass auslaufend. Stellenweise kleine
Durchrostungen, eine größere Fehlstelle. Die
fünf beweglich geschobenen Bauchreifen im
19. Jhdt. gut ergänzt. Zwei Reifen mit alten,
genieteten Reparaturstellen. Höhe 54 cm.
A German Gothic breastplate, circa 1460/70
The breastplate distinctly domed, the upper
edge with a prominent flange struck outwards.
The arm gussets are missing, an iron buckle
preserved on the left shoulder. An armourer’s
mark (two crossed swords) struck on the upper
right-hand edge. Mounted reinforcement plate
with seven-fold fluting and flanged edges, the
upper tip tapering into a trefoil. Small perfora-
tion corrosions in places, one larger flaw. The
five movable articulated faulds are good 19th
century replacements. Two faulds with old rive-
ted repairs. Height 54 cm.
