Hochwertige, goldgerahmte Miniatur eines Marineoffiziers,

Gustavus Hamilton, Irland, datiert 1764

Ölfarben auf Elfenbein. Ovales Brustbild eines Mannes in Offiziers-

uniform. Links signiert „Ham.“, rechts datiert 1764. Kräftige Rahmung

aus Rotgold, beidseitig verglast. Auf der verglasten Vorderseite umlau-

fend zwei fein geflochtene Haarlocken, der Rand mit gefassten Fluss-

perlen besetzt. Trageöse mit beweglichem Ring. Maße mit Rahmen

6,2 x 5,2 cm.

Gustavus Hamilton (1739-75), bekannter irischer Portrait- und Mini-

aturmaler.

Gustavus Hamilton, dated 1764

Oil on ivory. A half-length, oval portrait of a man in an officer’s uni-

form. Signed “Ham.” on the left, dated 1764 on the right. The sturdy

frame in red gold, under glass on both sides. Two finely braided locks

of hair placed as a border around the glazed front, the edge set with

mounted freshwater pearls. Suspension loop with a movable ring. Di-

mensions including frame 6.2 x 5.2 cm.

Gustavus Hamilton (1739-75) was a famous Irish portrait and minia-

ture painter.
