| 55 sections (Long Service Award, War CommemorativeMedal) and an arm- band of the (tr.) “Citizens’ Defence Munich 1919” in the storage box with the label (tr.) “Freifrau von SatzenhofenGrand Crosses order ribbons”. The decorations awarded to Maximilian Freiherr von Sazenhofen (1829 – 1913) passed into the family on the marriage in 1905 of his daughter Clara (1870 – 1953) withWilhelmFreiherr von Leonrod and subsequent- ly to Schmiechen castle in 1937. As major of the cavalry, Sazenhofen, who hailed fromZweibrücken, served as 1st adjutant during the Franco-Prus- sian War in the Generalkommando Würzburg (II Armee Korps) under General Freiherr vonHartmann, earned the Iron Cross at Plessis-Piquet and received the Military Merit Order from the Bavarian king for the siege of Paris. By his death in 1913, he had advanced to the highest posi- tion in the Bavarian army as general of the cavalry, was ultimately ap- pointed adjutant general of Prince Regent Ludwig and, as chamberlain, had been a member of the royal household since 1889. Also enclosed is the Swords distinction, for attachment to the MMO with a safety pin brooch for the shift from the orders to the field orders clasp as of 1891. Moreover, the presentation cases for the Order of Louis by “HEMMER- LE”, for the Jubilee Medal with Crown (the discarded medal without the crown enclosed) by “Leser” and for the Anhalt medal.
