| 73 2040 2041 A Tyrolean flintlock recoil target rifle by Josef Dünckl, Schwaz, circa 1800 Rifled octagonal barrel in 13.5 mm calibre, the bore rough. Dovetailed front sight and chiselled fixed sight on the top. Silver-inlaid signature and fine engravings of acanthus and tendrils at the breech. Recoil flintlock, the lock plate lightly engraved with a repeated signature in a cartouche, surrounded by tendrils. Set trigger, the hair trigger has broken off. Exceptionally splendid full stock, carved with acanthus ornaments, the horn nosepiece inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Ornate, openwork brass furniture. The patch box and cheek piece covered in horn inlaid with mother-of-pearl. A cipher of a crown/”JK” inlaid with mother-ofpearl and carved initials “I.E” on the left side of the butt, an additional name in italics below the cheek piece. Length 119 cm.
