Er trägt nur ein Lendentuch, dieses ist koloriert und mit einem aufwendigen Faltenwurf ausgeführt. Detailliert geschnitztes Wurzelwerk zu seinen Füßen. Der rechte Arm fehlt, Finger der linken Hand sowie Baumteile abgebrochen. Maße 29 x 12,5 x 8 cm. Christoph Daniel Schenck ist bekannt für seine barocke Sakralkunst, vor allem aus Buchsbaum und Elfenbein. Er gestaltete aber auch ganze Altäre. Provenienz: 2018 im niederländischen Kunsthandel erworben, die Skulptur befand sich vorher in der Sammlung Brennikmeijer sowie in der Sammlung Hermann Baer (Inventarnummer 156). Carved figure of the saint tied to a tree (shackles not shown). His emaciated body is riddled with several holes (arrows missing). He is clad in a polychrome loincloth falling in elaborate folds. Detailed carved roots at his feet. The right arm missing, fingers of the left hand and parts of the tree are broken off. Dimensions 29 x 12.5 x 8 cm. Christoph Daniel Schenck is known for his Baroque sacral art, especially of boxwood and ivory. He also created entire altars.
