Runde Keramik-Patrize mit plastisch verziertem Medaillon. Dar gestellt ist das von üppigem Schlangenhaar umgebene Haupt der Gor- go, dem apotropäische Wirkung zugeschrieben wurde. Patrize für die Herstellung entsprechender Matrizen, die bei der Herstellung großer Volutenkratere zumEinsatz kamen. Länge 8 cm. Durchmesser 10,7 cm. Provenienz: Aus in Deutschland verwahrter Privatsammlung. Erwor- ben in den 1990er Jahren im englischen Kunsthandel. Ceramic patrix with gorgoneion, Southern Italy, 4th - 2nd century B.C. Round ceramic patrix with the head of the Gorgo. Length 8 cm. Diameter 10.7 cm. P rovenance : From a private collection in Germany. Acquired on the English art market in the 1990s. 256244 II - € 300 1670 Silbernes Kybele-Votivblech mit Teilvergoldung, hellenistisch, 2.-1. Jhdt. v. Chr. Fragment eines fein getriebenen, silbernen Votivblechs mit thronender Kybele in einer Ädikula-Architektur. Vergoldet sind jeweils Basis und Kapitell beider Säulen des Naiskos, ferner große Teile des Gewandes der Gottheit, die Mauerkrone und der Spiegel. Letztere sind die typischen Attribute der Kybele, auch als Magna Mater bekannt. Im Bereich der Füße Reste eines Wildtieres, bei dem es sich um einen Löwen gehandelt haben dürfte. Die linke untere Hälfte fehlt, ferner ein Ausbruch mittig rechts und oben imBereich des Giebels. Länge 11,3 cm. Kybele war ursprünglich eine phrygisch-lydische Gottheit. Ihr Kult verbreitete sich vonKleinasien aus über Griechenland. Im Jahre 205/204 v. Chr. wurde der als heilig angesehene schwarze Stein der Kybele von Pessinus in Phrygien nach Rom gebracht und ihr Kult unter demNamen der „Magna Mater deum Idaea” offiziell in Rom eingeführt. Ihr Kult blieb über Jahrhunderte von Bedeutung, und noch Kaiser Julian II., der sich vomChristentum abgewandt hatte, verfasste 362 eine Schrift „Über die Göttermutter”. Provenienz: Aus westdeutscher Privatsammlung, vor 1980 auf dem Kunstmarkt erworben. A partially gold plated Hellenistic silver sheet with Kybele, 2nd - 1st century B.C. Fragment of a silver votive sheet with enthroned Kybele in an aedicula architecture. The base and capital of both columns of the naiskos are gilded, as are large parts of the robe of the deity, the wall crown and the mirror. The latter are the typical attributes of Kybele, also known as Magna Mater. In the area of the feet traces of a wild animal, which was probably a lion. The lower left half is broken away, furthermore flaws in the center right and above in the area of the gable. Length 11.3 cm.
