A Roman gold fibula with Utere felix-inscription, end of the 3rd century The gold, bulb-headed fibula of Keller II type. Contoured knobs on the pentagonal transverse bar. The three knobs have the eponymous bulb or onion shape. Niello decoration on the back and one side of the bow, as well as on the foot. The standard formula VTERE FELIX = “Use this with luck”, likewise in niello, on the side of the bow. Often found on jew- ellery or everyday objects dating from late antiquity, blessings such as this were supposed to bring the owner of the priceless pieces good luck. The axle and pin are missing. Goldene Zwiebelknopffibel vom Typ Keller Ib. Der fünfkantige Quer- arm trägt profilierte Aufsätze. Die drei Knöpfe haben die namenge- bende Zwiebelform. Auf dem Rücken des Bügels wie auch auf einer Seite Niello-Dekor, ebenso auf dem Fuß. Seitlich auf dem Bügel, eben- falls in Niello, die Formel VTERE FELIX = „benütze sie mit Glück”. Segenswünsche wie dieser finden sich in der Spätantike oft auf Schmuck oder Gebrauchsgegenständen und sollten dem Besitzer der kostbaren Stücke zu Glück verhelfen. Achse und Nadel fehlen.
