Auf dem Kopf scharniergelagerter Deckel auf der Füllöffnung, aus seinem Maul verläuft ein zweiteiliger Schlangenkopf-Ausguss. Auf seinem Rücken steht ein Fabelwesen, dessen Schweif sich um den Schwanz des Löwen windet. Eine Tatze des Löwen stützt sich auf ein Wappenschild. Augenscheinlich ungemarkt. Korpus mit minimalen Beulen. Maße 23,5 x 29 x 13 cm, Gewicht 1245 g. Nach dem Vorbild eines Gießlöwen aus dem Lüneburger Ratsilber, der 1540 dem Rat der Stadt vom Bürgermeister Hartwig Stöterogge geschenkt worden war und während des Mahles der Handwaschung diente. A grotesque mythical creature on its back, its tail curving around the lion‘s tail. One forepaw is supported by a scrolled shield, on which is engraved a lion rampant. Apparently unmarked. Minor dents in the body. Dimensions 23.5 x 29 x 13 cm, weight 1245 g. Modelled after a lion aquamanile from the „Lüneburger Ratssilber“, which was presented to the city council by Mayor Hartwig Stöterogge in 1540. It was used for the washing of hands during meals.
