| 425 A heavy German rampart rifle with combined wheel and matchlock, circa 1570 The octagonal, slightly tapered barrel with a slightly flared muzzle. Smooth bore in 21 mm calibre. A pattern of scales struck at the root of the barrel and in a decorative band on the front third of the barrel. The lock fitted with an external wheel, pan with spring-loaded cover and release button. The release rod for the wheel mounted on the outside, with folding safety catch. Secondary firing system with swivelling matchlock cock. The blackened full stock with an eyelet to insert a trunnion. Iron trigger guard with old collection mark attached. An old inventory number painted in white on the underside. A few areas of worming on the butt. Includes a matching modern wrench. Length 227 cm.
