Heller Nussholzschaft mit tiefem Abnahmestempel, Kolbenfach für 2 Patronen (ähnl. bayer. Wallbüchse), zwei Riemenbügeln und Putzstock. Vermutlich bei der deutschen Reichs-Gendarmerie geführt, vorwiegend in der Grenzregion Elsaß-Lothringen, das nach dem 70/71er Krieg zu Deutschland gehörte. Wohl eines der seltensten militärisch eingeführten Gewehre überhaupt! Länge 111 cm. A Reichs-Gendarmerie-Carbine (Short rifle) M 1871 Cal. 11,15x60R M71, SN. 58, matching numbers, incl. furniture and bolts. Barrel length 61 cm, bright bore. The chamber area marked with Prussian eagle and „Sp&Sr / SUHL“, the right side of the action with various imperial acceptance marks. Action identical to the IG M71, but unmarked. Rear sight with two flaps. The barrel browned, bands and sights blued, action, bolt, trigger guard and buttplate polished. The forward barrel band with bayonet mount for the M71 hunting hanger. Light walnut stock with crisp acceptance mark, trapdoor compartment for two cartridges, two sling swivels and ramrod. Probably issued to the Reichs-Gendarmerie (Imperial Rural Police), mostly in the border regions of Alsace-Lorraine, occupied by Germany after the war of 1870/71 against France.
