132 | 891 Bronzene Beinschiene, anatomisch geformt, griechisch, 5. Jhdt. v. Chr. Beinschiene (Knemis) aus gehämmertem Bronzeblech. Die Beinschiene umschloss und schützte die gesamte Unterschenkelpartie vom Knöchelgelenk bis oberhalb des Knies. Über die rein anatomische Formgebung mit Betonung einer kräftigen Wadenmuskulatur hinaus mit markantem Reliefdekor versehen. Das Schienbein mit einem weichen Umbruch in der Mitte, seitlich des Schienbeins Hohlkehlen und Linien, die in Spiralen auslaufen. Oberhalb des Knies Wulst, unterhalb zwei S-Spiralen. Der gesamte Rand mit kleinen Löchern perforiert zur Befestigung eines Futters im Inneren. Tiefgrüne Patina, partiell mit hellgrünen Oxydauflagen. Ein Riss am unteren Rand sowie ein weiterer, seitlich verlaufender Riss von ca. 16 cm Länge ab dem oberen Rand. Höhe 41 cm. KULTURGUT! Provenienz: Französische Privatsammlung. A Greek greave in bronze, anatomically formed, 5th century B.C. The greave (knemis) made of hammered sheet bronze. The greave enclosed and protected the entire lower leg area from the ankle joint to above the knee. In addition to the purely anatomical design with the emphasis on pronounced calf muscles, it features striking relief decoration. The knemis with a soft break in the centre, shallow fullers running along the sides and lines extending into spirals. A bulge above the knee, below two S-shaped spirals. A continuous border of small perforations along the edge to attach the lining on the inside. Dark green patina, with light green oxide deposits in places.
