| 105 Cadet Corps. In 1894, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. From 1900, he was an officer instructor in the Page Corps. Among his students was the Serbian Prince Alexander, the future King of Yugoslavia. In 1914, he became a major general and commander of Rostov-on-Don. In 1915, he was commander of the 640th Don Infantry Squadron of the State Militia. He represented the Volunteer Army in Rostov when Ataman Krasnov commanded the Don Army. Nikolai Nikolayevich Shonson (1878–1918) – private secretary and friend of Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich. He was trained at the Alexander Cadet Corps. 1896 Mikhailovskoye Artillery School, 1899 lieutenant, 1900 in the 1st Guards Artillery Brigade, 1917 staff captain. Together with the Grand Duke, he was exiled to the Perm province by decree of the Sovnarkom. He and Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich were abducted and murdered on the night of June 12–13, 1918, by a group of Cheka and Perm police officers. The location of their grave remains unknown to this day.
