Schusswaffen A78

Jhdts. vornehmlich in Salzburg tätig. A significant all-metal flintlock rifle, Johann Glett, Passau, circa 1680/90 Round, slightly tapered barrel with offset midrib, smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. The barrel rib with engraved signature “Johann Glett Inn Passau”. Engraved lock with depic- tion of huntsmen and dogs, and repeated sig- nature “Johann Glett”. Hollow-forged, iron butt with engraved décor on the top and bot- tom sides. Iron trigger guard with cut acan- thus decoration. Three faceted ramrod sleeves with original, iron ramrod. Length 161 cm. The Glett or Klett family, gunsmiths of Suhl, primarily worked in Salzburg during the second half of the 17th century. Father, son and a nephew were all called Johann Paul and therefore cannot easily be distinguished from each other. Since the father already died before 1663, the rifle most likely can be attributed to his son, recorded 1636-92, or his nephew, recorded circa 1688. 248267 II + € 17.000
