Mit dem Tod ihrer Söhne Ludwig Frei- herr von Leonrod (1906 – 1944), Opfer des Widerstands vom 20. Juli, und Maximilian (1909 – 1947), erlosch die Familie im Mann- stamm. Clara Freiin von Leonrod war König- lich Bayerische Palastdame und Mitbesitzerin von Schloss Schmiechen, welches nach dem Aussterben der Familie der Freiherren von Thünefeld (1937) in ihren Besitz überging. Enamelled in opaque light blue and white with the name cipher of the founder, Queen Therese of Bavaria (1792 – 1854), enclosed by the translucent green rue crown of Saxony, her home state. Width 43.5 mm. Weight 20 g. Includes two customised ribbon bows for wear- ing the order on the left shoulder and two ori­ ginal-length sashes to be worn when attending galas at court. In the gold-embossed presen­ tation case with interior display pad and a private lace shawl belonging to the wearer, along with a family note (tr.) “Order of Theresa Clara Frfr. v. Leonrod née Sazenhofen”. Furthermore the King Ludwig Cross on a ribbon bow for ladies with the accompanying letter from the (tr.) “Bavarian National Committee for voluntary medical care in times of war”, dated 30 April 1916, with a statute ex- cerpt for (tr.) “Your Excellency Freifrau Klara von Leonrod, wife of the Lord Chamberlain”. Born on 12 October 1870 in Würzburg, Freiin von Sazenhofen was the daughter of the Royal General-Adjutant and Cavalry General, Maximilian Freiherr von Sazenhofen. She married Wilhelm Freiherr von Leonrod (1865 – 1943) on 15 November 1905. The death of her sons, Ludwig Freiherr von Leonrod (1906 – 1944), a victim of the 20 July plot, and Maximilian (1909 – 1947), extinguished the male line of the family. Clara Freiin von Leon- rod was a Royal Bavarian court lady and co-owner of Schmiechen castle, which passed into her hands on the extinction of the family of the Freiherren von Thünefeld (1937). 247759 I - € 1.800
