118 | Wilhelm Freiherr von Leonrod – A Grand Cross set of the Order of the Württemberg Crown in the presentation case Peacetime sash decoration wrought in brilliant gold in the best production quality of the court jeweller, Eduard Föhr of Stuttgart, who supplied the German medal office as of 1876. The cross in the newer, somewhat smaller issue, enamelled in various colours, some translucent, with counterposed lions and the crown pendant on simple decorative bars. Apart from one small chip in the tip of a cross arm, in absolutely immaculate condition. Width 72.5 mm. Weight 61 g. See Klein/Raff pages 426 ff for an illustration and description of a cross of identical manufacture from the estate of Duke Eugen of Württemberg. The eight-rayed, highly convex breast star in sil- ver, the medallion in gold, in Föhr’s last issue with a fluted, additional medallion setting, the order motto “Furchtlos und treu” (Fearless and true) in translucent red enamel, the appliquéd order cross in the centre fashioned in the finest goldsmith technique. Themanufacturer’s signet “EDUARD FOEHR KÖNIGL. HOF JUWELIER STUTTGART” on the back. Width 82.2 mm. Weight 76.6 g. Together with the full-length, crimson sash (customised and worn) and the family note (tr.) “Württemberg Order of the Württember- gisch Crown” in the presentation case with a gold-embossed decorative line and the Würt- temberg coat of arms in gold in the inside of the lid.
