108 | Wilhelm Freiherr von Leonrod – A 1st Class order set of the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle in the presentation case The sash decoration worked in gold by the manufacturer J. Wagner & Sohn of Berlin. The cross arms in white convex enamel, the Branden- burg eagle in fine gold dust and enamel painting, the back with the chased, crowned founder initials (reorganised in 1810) of King Fried rich Wilhelm III (1770 – 1840) on a double circlip. The manufacturer’s mark “W” incised into the lower cross arm. Width 58.2 mm. Weight 32.9 g. The eight-rayed breast star worked in silver, from the same manufac turer. The inscription ring of the medallion with the order motto “SINCERE ET CONSTANTER” (Sincere and constant), wrought in gold, the central Brandenburg eagle also in fine gold dust and enamel painting, the medallion with the typical screw cylinder, on a gilt pin (to protect the uniform cloth from oxidation) and scratched with a “W” below the pin hook. Width 91.6 mm. Weight 74.8 g. Comes with the original-length, customised and worn sash, printed instructions for wear and a family note (tr.) “Prussian Order of the Red Eagle 1st Cl.” in the gold-embossed, red leather case.
