| 23 Los 2056 Außergewöhnliche Radschlossbüchse, Augsburg, um 1660 Vielleicht war es der Wunsch, eine Waffe zu besitzen, die auch in ihrem Aussehen verrät, auf welches Wild man es abgesehen hat. Vielleicht war es aber auch die Idee, ein Gewehr mit ab- solut einzigartigem Dekor zu schaffen. In jedem Fall hat ein Augsburger Büchsenmacher eine solche Waffe kreiert, indem er nicht nur in den Kolben dieser geradezu höfisch anmuten- den Radschlossbüchse eine fein emaillierte Platte mit Dar- stellung der ruhenden Diana, der Göttin der Jagd, einfügte und das Schloss mit der Abbildung einer Saujagd gravierte. Er ging sogar noch einen Schritt weiter – er furnierte den gesam- ten Schaft der Waffe mit Hirschhorn, welches er so sorgfältig auswählte, dass die Perlung der Hirschhornplättchen perfekt zusammenpasst und die Fugen zwischen ihnen so gut wie un- sichtbar sind. Eine rare und absolut außergewöhnliche Büchse! Lot 2056 An extraordinary German wheellock rife, Augsburg, circa 1660 Whichever nobleman had this rifle custom-built for his hunting adventures knew exactly what he wanted! Of course the rifle was meant for hunting - an enamelled copper plaque on the left side of the butt, showing the goddess Diana with her hunting hounds in a gilt brass frame, makes that very clear. The target of the hunt? Probably wild boar, as the lock plate is nicely en- graved with a scene from a wild boar hunt. The mythical sea monsters engraved on the cock were probably not in the hunter’s sights. But deer most certainly was! The skillfull gunsmith has veneered the entire rifle stock in staghorn plaques, their surface structure so delicately cut to match as to perfectly camouflage the joints.
