Los 158 Seltene Miniatur-Teekanne aus Bernstein, Königsberg, um 1700/20 Die kostbaren und seltenen Bernsteinschnitzereien des Barocks zählen zu den begehrtesten Kunstkammerobjekten, die heute von Sammlern weltweit gesucht werden. Die bedeutendsten Werk- stätten zur Verarbeitung von Bernstein lagen damals – nahe den Fundstätten am Ostseestrand – in der Stadt Königsberg (heute Kaliningrad) in Ostpreußen, wo wohl auch dieses einteilig ge- schnitzte Miniaturkännchen aus honigfarbenem, opakem Bern- stein um 1710 entstanden sein dürfte. Mit seiner geschweiften Form und dem Ausguss in Bambusoptik orientiert es sich deut- lich an den damals begehrten Porzellanarbeiten aus China. Mit einer Höhe von nur 6,5 cm hat die Miniatur trotz abnehmbaren Deckels und funktionsfähigen Ausgusses wohl keinen prakti- schen Nutzen, sondern diente schon damals ausschließlich als reines Zier- und Kunstkammerobjekt an den Höfen Europas. Lot 158 A rare miniature tea pot made of amber, Königsberg, circa 1700/20 The sumptuous, unusual amber carvings of the baroque are some of the most sought-after Kunstkammer objects, still highly popular with collectors around the world. The most important amber workshops were originally located in Königsberg (sub- sequently renamed Kaliningrad) in East Prussia, not far from the excavation sites on the Baltic beaches, where this miniature jug – carved in one piece in honey-coloured, opaque amber – was probably made circa 1710. With its curved lines and bam- boo-shaped spout, it was clearly inspired by the porcelain pieces from China that were en vogue at the time. Standing just 6.5 cm tall, the miniature jug probably serves no practical purpose, despite the removable lid and fully functional spout, but was designed exclusively as an ornament and Kunstkammer object for the royal courts of Europe.
