| 9 Los 4994 Helm M 1875 für Trompeter des Karabi- nier-Regiments, Trageweise ab 1897 Das Königlich Sächsische Karabinier-Regiment war neben den Gardereitern eines von zwei schweren Reiter-Regimen- tern in Sachsen. Als „Reiter-Regiment“ wurde der Verband am 1. November 1849 aufgestellt. Seit dem 23. April 1867 führte er den Namen Karabinier-Regiment (2. Schweres Re- giment). Der Regimentsstab sowie die 1., 2. und 4. Eskadron waren in Borna, die 3. und 5. Eskadron in Pegau stationiert. 1893 wurde der Verband schließlich komplett in Borna zu- sammengezogen. Der Stempel „C. 1. 104 III“ an dem angebo- tenen Helm weist darauf hin, dass der Träger zur 1. Eskadron des „Carabinier“-Regiments gehörte. Der rote Rosshaar- busch weist ihn als Trompeter aus. Zur Parade trugen die anderen Mannschaften weiße Haarbüsche. Die Uniform be- stand aus einem kornblumenblauen Waffenrock mit weißen Vorstößen, silberner Borte, schwarzem Kragen und gelben Knöpfen. Es handelt sich um eine sehr seltene frühe Ausfüh- rung des Mannschaftshelmes noch mit gegratetem Vorder- schirm und von einem der wenigen Trompeter. Lot 4994 A model 1875 helmet for trumpeters of the Carbine Regiment, in the style worn from 1897 onwards Besides the Horseguard Regiment, the Royal Saxon Carbine Regiment was one of two heavy cavalry regiments in Sax- ony. It was established on 1 November 1849 as (tr.) “Cav- alry Regiment” and was renamed Carbine Regiment (2nd Heavy Regiment) on 23 April 1867. The regimental staff was stationed in Borna together with the 1st, 2nd and 4th squad- rons, whereas the 3rd and 5th squadrons had their base in Pegau. In 1893, the division was consolidated in Borna. The stamp “C. 1. 104 III” on the helmet on offer indicates that the wearer belonged to the 1st squadron of the “Carabi- nier” Regiment. Moreover, the red horsehair plume suggests that he was a trumpeter. During parades, the other enlisted men wore white horsehair plumes. The uniform consisted of a cornflower-blue tunic with white piping, silver rim, black collar and yellow buttons. The object at hand is a very rare, early version of the helmet for enlisted men that is still equipped with a ribbed front visor and belonged to one of the few trumpeters.
