Jhdts. Die feine Klinge aus Wootzdamast ist reich mit Gold tauschiert. Neben Ornamenten und einer Koransure trägt sie auch die Herstellersignatur „Haci Suncur“. Parierstange und Scheiden- beschläge bestehen aus vergoldetem Silber mit fein nielliertem Dekor. Der Griff aus exotischem, schwarz-grünem Nephrit ist in Gold montiert und zeigt auf der Trageseite drei kleine, in Gold gefasste Rubine. Nach Europa gelangten derartig hochwertige Waffen gelegentlich als diplomatische Geschenke, auch bei der Schlacht vor Wien wurden ähnliche Säbel erbeutet, von denen sich einigeVergleichsstücke heute in der Sammlung der Dresdener Rüstkammer befinden. The fine wootz Damascus blade is decorated with rich gold inlays. In addition to ornaments and a Quran Surah it bears the maker’s signature “Haci Suncur”. Quillons and scabbard fittings are made of gilt silver with finely nielloed décor.The grip is made of exotic, black- green nephrite and mounted in gold, with three small rubies set in gold on the carrying side. High-quality weapons of this kind occasionally came to Europe as diplomatic gifts. Similar sabres were looted in the Battle of Vienna, and comparable items can today be found in the Dresden Armoury.
