Kaiser Wilhelm II – a presentation set of twelve KPM porcelain mocha cups in the original case, circa 1900 Porcelain with turquoise-coloured glaze and lavish gilt decoration in relief (partially abraded). The base of each cup with the blue sceptre mark and the iron red imperial orbmark “KPM”. Each with a matching saucer with en suite embellishment. Signs of age and handling. Height of the cups 5.3 cm each, diameter of the saucers 10.7 cm each. In the original, red leather case (measuring 52 x 43 x 11 cm, scuffed, torn on the narrow sides) with a gold-embossed royal crown on the lid. A carrying handle on each side, lockable. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age and use. Porcelain in beautiful condition, having been protected over the decades. Very imposing mocha set. Provenance: According to the consignor, the set was a diplomatic gift that was presented by Kaiser Wilhelm II to Leopold II of Belgiumduring his visit to Berlin in 1904.
