A helmet for officers in the Life Guards Infantry Regiment (1st Grand Ducal Hessian) No. 115, circa 1900 Black patent leather shell (slightly sunken, minimal dents at the visors) with silvered nickel-silver mounts. Bolted emblem with double laurel and oak leaf wreath, applied with the enamelled star of the House Order. Cruciform base with four star screws, on the obverse the scroll “1621”, fluted spike of Hessian form. Flat leather-backed chinscales on pushthrough rosettes, complete with both cockades (state cockade in Hessian form). Yellow-green silk rep lining, ochre leather sweatband, red and green lined visor, respectively, old size number “56”. With field-grey helmet cover for officers (slightly spotty here and there, small old repair, “D.R.P.” stamp). Also enclosed a silver cruciform base with four star brads and service spike of Hessian form. In original helmet case. Partially slightly damaged, signs of wear and age. Very rare helmet in as-found condition and excellent state of preservation. Nackenschiene. Verschraubtes Löwenemblem. Kreuzblatt mit vier Rundkopfschrauben, sechsfach gekehlte Schraubspitze hessischer Form (kleine Delle an der Basis), zwei seitliche Lüftungslöcher. Gewölbte lederunterlegte Schuppenketten an Steckrosetten, beide Offizierskokarden aus lackiertem Blech. Schwarzes Lederlaschenfutter, rot bzw. grün unterlegte Schirme.
