Arkady Nestorovich Annibal (Gannibal) was an officer and adjutant of General of the Cavalry Nikolai Nikolaevich Baratov (representative of the Volunteer Army and the Armed Forces of South Russia under General A. I. Denikin in the government of Georgia). According to several accounts, he was descended fromGeneral Abram Petrovich Gannibal . He graduated from the Imperial School of Jurisprudence in 1912. During the civil war, Annibal left Ural for the Far East and later did military service in Iran. He founded ethnographic museums in Teheran and Qazvin, managed the museum and library in Abadan, loved oriental languages, wrote poetry in Russian and French, played the piano and violin, and engaged in painting and sculpture.
