The Cyrillic inscription (tr.) “2ndMounted Life Guards Artillery Brigade” engraved on the top. The inside of the lid stamped with the St. Petersburg mark of fineness for “84” zolotniki , master’s mark “AK” for Karl Albrecht and engraved names of the last commanders of this brigade: “1881-1885 Prince V.N. Masalsky, V.M. Khitrovo, A.Ja. Tal, A.M. Khitrovo, Count E.E. Putiatin, A.M. Voronovich, Count M.A. Barantsev, V.G. Pavlovsky, A.A. Dmitriev”. The inner lid bearing a framed photograph (faded, behind glass) with mounted officers of the 2nd Life Guards Artillery Brigade. The interior gilt with the same marks of fineness and master’s marks.
