Spanien 3051 A Spanish Grand Cross of Naval Merit On August 3, 1866, Queen Isabella II established the Order of Naval Merit in 4 classes. The offered breast star „con distintivo blanco” is a luxury example of the star to the grand cross, awarded to generals, admirals, or civilian personnel of equivalent rank. The white decoration (con distintivo blanco) was awarded for actions, deeds, or distinguished service during missions or ordinary or extraordinary service in the armed forces or in connection with defense of the country. The full-size star is made from gilded silver and is marked on the needle accordingly. The jeweler’s name is added to the reverse of the star body at 5 o’clock. The star is encrusted with sapphires instead of the normal white and blue enamel work. The alternating towers (Castile) Cap body of olive-drab tricot wool, boat-shaped, silver-aluminum mesh piping around scallop panel, three hand-embroidered gilt wire eight-pointed rank stars on brown backing for rank of Oberst, hand-applied.
