Von der Rückseite eingraviert mittig im Kreis ein Monogramma Christi (Chi-Rho) sowie auf allen vier Armen in Frontalansicht jeweils die fein eingravierte Büste eines Herrschers, jeder mit Diadem/Krone und Reichsapfel. Die Herrscherfigur auf dem rechten Kreuzarm zudem mit Szepter. Alte, kleine, flache Absplitterung auf der Rückseite oben links, wenige alte minimale Bestoßungen rückseitig an den Kanten. Intakt. Dicke 0,3 cm. Länge 7,2 cm. Seltenes, außergewöhnliches BergkristallKreuz. Provenienz: Westdeutsche Privatsammlung. A Byzantine rock crystal cross with four emperors, 8th - early 9th century Flat cross made of rock crystal with a Monogramma Christi (Chi-Rho) in a circle engraved (from the back) in the centre. On each of the four arms in frontal view the finely engraved bust of a ruler, each with tiara/crown and orb. The ruler figure on the right arm of the cross also with sceptre. Old small shallow chip on the back top left, few old minimal bumps on the back edges. Intact . Thickness 0.3 cm. Length 7.2 cm. Rare, exceptional rock crystal cross.
