Also included are an original piece of the finely woven outer skin of Zeppelin LZ 11 “Viktoria Luise”, di- mensions unfolded ca. 48 x 59 cm, with old inscription (tr.) “Viktoria Luise crashed during landing”. Partly damaged, traces of age. Unique estate, extremely rare. When Word War I broke out, the commercial airship LZ 11 had to be handed over to the German army, where it served as a training airship. On 8 October 1915, it was destroyed while being placed in its hangar at the Liegnitz airship station. Der bei Luftschiffbau Schütte-Lanz gebaute Zeppelin SL 11 des Deutschen Heeres wurde am 3.09.1916 nach einemAngriff auf Albans durch den Leutnant des Royal Flying Corps, William Leefe Robinson, durch Maschinengewehrfeuer abgeschossen, wofür dieser das Victoriakreuz erhielt. Es war das erste deutsche Luftschiff, das über britischem Boden abgeschossen wurde. Die Teile mit zwei Provenienzkärtchen des Londoner Kriegsmuseums und einer Garantiekarte des Britischen Roten Kreuzes, dass der Erlös Verwundeten zugute kommt. USA-Los, siehe Seite 4. Wreckage of the Schütte-Lanze 11 Zeppelin Assortment of remains from a Zeppelin shot down over Cuffley in Hert- fordshire, UK, by British Lieutenant William Leefe Robinson, which earned him the Victoria Cross. On September 3, 1916, the Schütte-Lanze 11 had bombed Albans during the largest German bombing of the war. Robinson, of the Royal Flying Corps, attacked the airship by positioning his plane below the airship and brought it down withmachine gun fire. It was the first German airship to be shot down in theUK. The remains con- sist of six pieces of debris with three provenance cards from the White- hall Theatre of War London War Museum and one British Red Cross Society card issued with pieces sold to help the wounded at the front.
