| 85 A large bronze leg of Pan, 2nd century A.D. Large bronze leg with hoof worked out in high quality. From a round opening with two volutes on the sides the thigh sets in, slightly bent for- ward and broadly ribbed. The knee is stretched backwards, tendons and muscles are well worked out. At the bottom a central, broadly notched hoof. The leg is hollow inside and served as foot of a Roman imperial seating furniture. Mounted. Except for one small chip on the thigh intact. Zwei große Möbelbeschläge mit je einer schreitenden Erosfigur im Dreiviertelrelief, der Kopf ist jeweils zurückgewandt, mit einer nach unten gerichteten Fackel hinter demRücken. Die Platte gerahmt durch einfache Punzverzierung. Oben und unten in Durchbruchstechnik sti- lisierte florale Verzierung. Rückseitig ein großer Befestigungsstift. Stellenweise Ausbrüche im Bereich der unteren und oberen Verzie- rung, sonst intakt und mit schöner Patina. Höhe 16,8 cm und 15 cm. Provenienz: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung. A pair of Roman appliqués, 2nd - 3rd century Two large furniture fittings, each with a striding Eros figure in relief. The head of the figure is turned back, with a downward pointing torch behind the back. The plate framed by simple hallmark decoration. Above and below stylised floral decoration in openwork technique. A large mounting pin on the reverse. Chipping in places in the area of the lower and upper decoration, otherwise intact and with a beautiful patina. Height 16.8 cm and 15 cm. Aufwendig gearbeiteter bronzener Beschlag in Gestalt des Hauptes des Bacchus. Der Kopf des Weingottes mit floralem Stirnschmuck wächst aus einem vielfach gezackten Weinblatt hervor. Künstlerisch sehr anspruchsvoll gestaltet! Unterhalb der linken Gesichtshälfte feh- len Teile des Weinblattes, sonst intakt. Exzellente Patina. Höhe 8 cm. Provenienz: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung. A Roman furniture fitting with the head of Bacchus, 1st - 2nd century Elaborately worked bronze fitting in the shape of the head of Bacchus. The head of the god of wine with floral forehead ornamentation grows out of a multiple serrated vine leaf. A very sophisticated design!
