| 193 A Chinese jade vase in an archaic style, late Qing Dynasty, 19th - early 20th century The arrow vase in dark green jade with a lid. The neck typically flanked by two longitudinal loops. Decorated with chased tendrils and stylised mythical creatures. On a wooden base. Intact. Height 21.5 cm. The name arrow vase derives from a game in which arrows or small sticks were thrown into such a vase. This game became widespread among the nobility and rich merchants during the Ming Dynasty. Combined with additional rituals and drinking games, this pastime be- came increasingly complex. Drei aus hellbraunem Jadestein, oben dekorativ verziert. Der vierte und größte aus rötlichem Gestein mit hellen Einsprengseln. Oben ein überaus kunstfertig geschnitzter Drache vor einer Wunschkugel. Dazu zwei Siegelsteine mit rechteckiger Grundfläche. Der eine mit Fo-Hund, der andere mit auslau­ fender Flasche. Intakt. Höhe 2,8 - 6,5 cm. Six skillfully carved Chinese jade seals, 20th century Four seal stones with square base. Three made of light brown jade and decorated on top. The fourth and largest one is made of reddish stone with light-coloured incrustations. On top an extremely skilfully carved dragon. In addition two seal stones with rectangular base.
