| 139 S-shaped tendril rises at the base on the left and right, from which curved branches extend laterally. The outlines of the cross and tendril are distinctively highlighted with dark niello on the silver background. The third piece with a depiction of the nimbed Archangel Michael in a splendidly decorated robe, in his right hand a spear, in his left a globe. The gilded figure stands out clearly against the dark niel- loed background. Fine incised decoration reproducing anatomical details and patterns on his clothing and belt. Surface with traces of cleaning. Oxide deposits partly preserved in the ridges between beaded wires and fields. Diameter without eyelet 6.2 cm each, diameter with eyelet 7.8 - 8.0 cm. Großer und außergewöhnlich guter erhaltener Sax mit kräftiger Rückenklinge. Unterhalb des Rückens beidseitig mehrfache schmale Kehlungen. Breite, leicht konische Angel. Dazu eine Gruppe bronzener Scheidenbe­ schläge, auf grauem Samt montiert, sowie Beimesser mit Scheidenbeschlägen und zwei bronzene Trageringe. Broad, slightly tapered tang. Also includes a group of bronze scabbard fittings, mounted on grey vel- vet, a by-knife with scabbard fittings and two bronze suspension rings.
