| 61 A bone-inlaid and partially gilt musket with combined matchlock and wheellock action, Suhl, circa 1570 The octagonal barrel turning to round, with the original finish. Slightly flaring muzzle, smooth bore in 18.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights with folding rear sight. Etched foliage décor on the top, the Suhl proof mark (the hen) and the master’s mark “TB” struck at the breech. Combined matchlock and wheellock action with fire-gilt springs, levers and ap- pliqués. Spring-loaded pan cover, a safety lever. The full shaft made of ebonised walnut with inlays of engraved and blackened bone. A depic- tion of different mythical creatures amidst scrollwork, the edges inlaid in bone. Finely etched and gilt iron trigger guard, the knob chased in the shape of a bell. Gilt iron ramrod pipes with etched floral embellishment. The original ramrod with engraved bone tip and iron wad hook. Length 140.5 cm. 282007 II + € 25.000 2062
