Zur Verdeutli- chung der Funktionsweise wurden im Stile ei- nes Schnittmodells Sichtfenster dort ange- bracht, wo sich im Gehäuse und im Kolben bewegliche Teile befinden. Die Funktion der Federn wird bei demModell durch schwächere Federn erbracht. Die Verschlussteile mit farb- lich abgesetztem Kunststoff, ebenso der Ab- zugsmechanismus. Das Magazin ist ebenfalls als Funktionsmodell ausgeführt und entnehm- bar. Dabei sind auch 27 Spielpatronen aus Kunststoff, die in das Patronenlager eingeführt und ausgezogen werden können. Montiert auf Brett mit zwei Ständern. Länge 195 cm, Höhe 66 cm. Geliefert imoriginalen Transportkoffer, mit Schraubzwingen zur Tischbefestigung, Satz Ersatzfedern, Behälter zum Auffangen der Spielpatronen. Dabei der „Operation and Maintenance Guide for 2.1 Scale Mockup of M16A2 Rifle. Distribution limited to U.S. Government Agencies only” von März 1987. Eine komplette Beschreibungmit Schnittzeich- nungen, Ersatzteillisten usw., wie damals an die U.S. Army geliefert. DieM16A2MockupDevices (DVC09-20) lau- fen unter der Nachschubnummer (NSN) 6920- 01-067-1681 und wurden zur Einführung des Waffenmodells 1984 in Dienst gestellt. Mitte der 90er Jahre wurden diese Trainingsmodelle eingezogen und vernichtet. Einige wenige sind noch erhalten, z.B. im Army Museum in Fort Polk, Louisiana, und in Fort Carson, Colorado. Die Modelle wurden laut Handbuch konzi- piert, um „im Klassenraum die Ausbildung zu unterstützen im Bezug auf Funktion, Zerlegen und Zusammensetzen des Gewehrs M16A2, Kaliber 5,56mm und die Lehre zu unterstützen hinsichtlich Namensgebung und Wiedererken- nung der Baugruppen”. Beschreibung des Mo- dells: Das Übungsgerät ist ein 2:1 Modell des Gewehrs M16A2, bei dem alle Teile funktio- nal, aber nicht feuertauglich sind. Das Modell kann manuell durch alle Feuermodi bedient werden und stellt die Funktionsweise von Ein- zelfeuer- sowie Feuerstoßmodus dar. Es kann so wie die Originalwaffe zerlegt und zusam- mengesetzt werden. The magazine is also functional and removable. It includes 27 plastic dummy cart­ ridges; these can be inserted and extracted from the chamber. Mounted on a board with two stands. Length 195 cm, height 66 cm. Also including the original transportation case with clamps for table mounting, a set of spare springs and a container to collect the dummy cartridges. The M16 A2 Mockup Devices (DVC09-20) bear the supplies number (NSN) 6920-01-067- 1681 and were put into service to introduce the AR model 1984. These training models were withdrawn and destroyed in the mid-1990s. Only a small number of them are still existent, for example in the ArmyMuseum in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and in Fort Carson, Colorado. The models were designed according to the manual to “support classroom training to illustrate the function, disassembly and assembly of the as­ sault rifle M16A2, 5.56 mm calibre, and to help students learn the names and look of the weapon components.” Description of the mod­ el: the present training tool is a 2:1 model of the M16A2 rifle. All parts are functioning, but the rifle cannot fire any shots. The model can be operated in all firing modes to exemplify selec­ tive fire.
