The inside with a wide, black leather sweatband, lined in pink silk, the cloth stamped “Supplier P.A. Fokin St Petersburg”. Size 58. Signs of wear. An elegant parade tunic in green cloth, in fin­ est quality befitting an officer. Red collar and cuffs with braided gold embroidery. The placket with red piping. Gilt buttons with the Russian double-headed eagle. Two rows of six gasyri (decorative cartridges) at the breast, the respective pockets with a border of gold em­ broidery, delicate, ornate gold chains. The shoulders with the shoulder boards for the first lieutenant, the tsar’s cipher removed following his fall from power in 1917. A gold cord on the right-hand side. Lined in cream-coloured and green silk. The lining more heavily worn towards the collar. Overall in good condition. Extremely rare find, especially in combination with the fur hat . Only very few imperial officer’s uniforms survived the revolutionary turmoil of 1918. The 17th Dragoon Regiment from Nizhny Novgorod was one of the two most decorated regiments of the Russian forces.
