152 | The uniform of an Austrian general of the cavalry in Hungarian gala adjustment, circa 1900 A shako for generals, the body covered in fine black cloth, the top, the top band, the gold-embroidered visor and the headband in black patent leather, a large, gold distinction border (width 66 mm), braided gold lacing (the gilding has been refreshed with a paintbrush), the Fangschnur (securing cord) on the right-hand side with a crowned double-headed eagle and crowned cipher “FJ1”, an emblem and rose in gilt, non-ferrous metal at the front, both with the crowned cipher “FJ1”, a green plume in the socket behind the rose, lined in pale, cham­ pagne-coloured silk (torn), brown leather sweatband (also torn) with a trim at the edge. The attila of fine scarlet cloth (in excellent condition, no moth damage) with gold cord lacing, braided gold toggles and ro­ settes, trimmed in wide gold braid and with embroidery on the collar and sleeves, a silver-embroidered distinction star on each point of the collar, ornate gold lacing at the back, the slanting hip pockets with gold braid trim, several orders loops, remnants of the red and white silk lining, the tailor’s label “TILLERMÓR ÉS TÁRSABUDAPESTEN” in the inside breast pocket. Also includes the coat made of fine cloth in a distinctive white, slightly greenish-blue shade (in fine condition, no moth damage) trimmed with marten fur, gold lacing, braided gold toggles and rosettes with indicated hip pockets, several orders loops, red silk lining (newly replaced), the old tailor’s label “TILLER MÓR ÉS TÁRSA BUDAPESTEN”. Plus the braided gold belt for generals, the laces with black stripes, complete with pin and loops. Slightly damaged in places, signs of wear and age.
