Einbund mit anhängendem eiser­ nen Ring, geflochtene Hanfsehne. Säule aus Nussbaumholz, die Ober- und Unterseite vollständig mit Bein belegt. Auf den Seiten Darstellung von Jägern und Wild zwischen Blattranken. Auf der Unterseite fein gra­ vierte Darstellung der Fortuna, darunter ein Dudelsack spielender Bär. Am unteren Kol­ benabschluss Darstellung von Adam & Eva. Im Faden laufende Nuss aus Bein, mehrach­ sige Schlossmechanik, Klappabzug. Auf der Oberseite Daumenmulde und Montagelöcher für Bolzenhalter/Visier. Länge 65,5 cm. Provenienz: Ex. Sammlung Schulthess (CH). A South German bone-inlaid Renaissance crossbow with hunting motifs, circa 1600/20 Iron prod with the original green woollen pom- poms. A mark struck in the inside on the left. The anchors with the iron ring attached, braid- ed hemp bowstring. The tiller made of walnut, the top and bottom entirely veneered in bone. The sides with depictions of hunters and game amidst leafy vines. A finely engraved depic- tion of Fortuna on the underside, below which a bear playing the bagpipes. Adam and Eve are represented on the lower end of the butt. The nut made of bone and secured with thread, multi-axle lock mechanism, folding trigger.
