A depiction of two famous 15th century Italian com- manders, modelled after the well-known Renaissance works, the epitaph of Erasmo da Narni, referred to as Gattamelata (1370 - 1443) in Padua, created by Donatello in 1447, and the equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni (1400 - 1475), which was not finished until 1494, after the death of the sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio of Venice. Mounted on stepped plinths of white-veined black marble.
