240 | A deluxe Silesian Teschen rifle with lavish bone inlays, circa 1660 The slender, octagonal barrel slightly constricted in the middle with six-groove rifled bore in 8 mm calibre. Dovetailed iron sights, scrolling bands engraved and chased at the muzzle and the breech. The lockwith typical, external main spring, the cock and cover plates with engraved and chased ornamentation. The full stock made of walnut, entirely covered with lavish inlays of engraved bone and mother-of-pearl. Depictions of different wild animals and mythical creatures amidst curled shavings and dot inlays. A depiction of a unicorn on the cheek piece, a leaping lion on the other side. The patch box with a sliding lid and spring catch, iron harp-shaped finger rests. Original wood- en ramrod with bone tip. Length 109.5 cm. Superlative, lightweight wheellock rifle used for fowling, probably made in Cieszyn. 273578 II + € 16.000
