A Nambu pistol “Grandpa” with detachable stock, 1st version, Navy Cal. 8 mm Nambu, SN. 271. Matching num- bers incl. grip panels. Nearly bright bore, bar- rel length 119 mm. 7-shot magazine. No mod- ern proof marks. Made ca. 1903. Tangent rear sight scaled 1-5, groove for detachable stock. Small trigger guard. On the bolt housing a sym- bol indicating that the weapon was made in the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal, marked “Type Nam- bu” in Japanese on the right rear corner, here an early model without the anchor. Original finish, matt, on the front left on 10 mm mini- mally pitted and spotty. Trigger with traces of strawing. Mahogany grip panels with coarse chequering. Nickel-plated, matching-num- bered magazine with wooden base. Complete with wooden shoulder stock with magazine compartment on the inside and cleaning rod, S/N 2227. Mounts with original bluing.
