Schusswaffen aus fünf Jahrhunderten

A pair of pistols for mamluk officers of the Imperial Guard, circa 1800 Smooth bore in calibre 14.5 mm, one pistol with over-polished stamp over the chamber, one with ground iron front sight, the other with brass front sight. Flintlocks with brass pans, on both lock plates the maker’s in- scription “Versailles”. Dark full stocks with smooth brass furnitures. Wooden (replaced?) ramrods with brass tips. Iron parts patinated, one pistol with unprofessionally repaired bar- rel holding pin, signs of age and use. Length of either pistol 41 cm. The mamluks joined the Imperial Guard in 1802, and there were never more than 13 (!) ac- tive officers for the 150 to 250 men of which the unit was composed. The present pistols, which were made in the Versailles Manufactory un- der the aegis of Nicolas Boutet, are therefore extremely rare ordnance pistols. 273379 II - III € 6.000 5466 | 365
