Linde fein geschnitzt, kanneliert sowie teilweise durchbrochen gearbeitet und auf weißem Kreidegrund poliment- und ölver­ goldet. Auf runder, rosettenartiger Basis mit stark akzentuiertem Akanthusblattdekor der kräftige, gebogene Schaft, ebenfalls mit Akan­ thusdekor. Darauf eine starke Tülle in Palmet­ tenform mit drei geschwungenen Leuchterar­ men sowie einem weiteren geraden, zentralen Leuchter. Jeweils abschließende, fest montier­ te Tüllen. Höhe 40 cm. Sehr guter, teilrestau­ rierter Erhaltungszustand. Zu diesem Applikenpaar liegt ein ausführli­ ches Gutachten der Kunsthistorikerin Birgit Kropmanns vor. In diesem teilt sie die Zu­ schreibung an K. F. Schinkel bzw. an einen sei­ ner Schüler und schreibt den Herstellungspro­ zess der Holzbronzefabrik von Carl August Menke zu. A pair of fine classicist wall sconces based on a design by K. F. Schinkel, Berlin, circa 1830/40 With four branches. Finely carved, fluted and partly openworked limewood, poliment- and oil-gilt on a white chalk ground. On a round, rosette-like base with strongly accentuated acanthus leaf decoration, the sturdy, curved shaft also decorated with acanthus leaves. On top is a strong palmette-shaped socket with three curved candlestick arms and a further straight, central candlestick, all ending in firmly mounted sockets. Height 40 cm. Very good, partly restored condition. This pair of wall sconces is accompanied by a detailed ex- pertise of the art historian Birgit Kropmanns, which confirms the attribution to K. F. Schin- kel or one of his students and ascribes the man- ufacturing process to the wood bronze factory of Carl August Menke. 276176 II + € 6.000 3073 3073
