Sie war die Tochter des phönizischen Königs Agenor und der Telephassa. Zeus ver- liebte sich in die hübsche Europa. Wegen seiner misstrauischen Gattin Hera verwandelte er sich in einen Stier, um ihr nahe sein zu können. Schließlich entführte er mit Hilfe von Hermes die schöne Europa auf seinem Rücken. Aus dieser Verbindung gingen drei Kinder hervor. Remains of adhesive labels at the bottom. Europa is a figure from Greek mythology. She was the daughter of the Phoenician king Agenor and Telephassa. Zeus fell in love with the beautiful Europa. Because of his suspicious wife Hera he transformed himself into a bull to be close to her. Finally, with the help of Hermes, he kidnapped the beautiful Europa on his back. Hinter ihr ein Amorknabe mit Lorbeerfeston. Blaue Schwertermarke, Modellnummer sowie Gold­ malernummer. Guter altersbedingter Zustand. Kleinere Bestoßungen an den Blättern des Baumes. Höhe 24 cm. A fine porcelain group “The Reader”, Meissen, 19th century Fully sculpted porcelain, polychromely painted and decorated with gold. On a round base with a laurel frieze a lady dressed in flowing robes is sitting over an open book. She is leaning against a cherry tree and holding a laurel wreath in her right hand. Behind her a cupid with laurel festoon. Blue sword mark, model number and gold painting number. Good age-related condition. Minor bumps to the leaves of the tree.
