A South German two-handed flamberge, circa 1580 Double-edged blade of lenticular cross section with sturdy wavy edges on both sides. The ri- casso with original leather cover, embossed with two cross marks on one side. The base of the blade unilaterally struck with crescent moon mark. Iron quillons slightly inclined towards the blade with double guard rings on each side. Original grip with heavily worn textile cover of greenish velvet profusely dec- orated with studs. Both sides richly trimmed with ornamental iron rivets. Decorative brass rosettes applied on the obverse. Remnants of old fringe decoration. Biconical, fullered iron pommel decorated with grooves.
