An orders set of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Catherine, 1st Class with Diamonds, circa 1910 The silver breast star with gold plating on the back, the front covered with old-cut diamonds, the crown in the medallion and the order motto set in rose-cut diamonds. Movable star rays on hinges. Diameter 90 x 90 mm, weight 92 g. The large badge in silver and gold, the front covered with old-cut diamonds, fine, slightly rubbed painting on the enamelled medallion. Dimensions 10.8 x 67 mm. Weight 51.7 g. No hallmarks or stamps. Wrought in outstanding jeweller's quality. Good condition. In a matching but probably not associated presentation case. Diamond-set orders were traditionally pro- duced by St. Petersburg's most distinguished jewellers, such as Bodin, Fabergé, Hahn, W. Keibel, Säfftigen etc. and usually not hallmarked as they were supplied directly to the Tsars and not to the orders commission. A splendid piece of the utmost rarity. Comes with a Russian expert report prepared by Vladimir Vetluzhskikh (expert at the Rosokhrankultura/Federal Service for moni- toring compliance with cultural heritage protection). C f .
